Fly Agaric Powder (Amanita Muscaria)

  • 100% natural product, wild phenomenon
pleasant mushroom smell, velvety and delicate
for clear direction, self-confidence and inner strength collected with great care and love by local collectors

The fly agaric (Amanita muscaria) is a species of mushroom known for its striking appearance. Here are some characteristics of the fly agaric:

Location: Fly agarics are found in various parts of the world, especially in coniferous and deciduous forests. They often grow in association with trees, such as birch or pine.

Toxicity: Fly agaric is poisonous and contains psychoactive compounds such as muscimol and ibotenic acid. These substances can have hallucinogenic effects, but the consumption of flying agarics is risky due to high toxicity and can cause serious poisoning. Additionally, there is no surefire way to control the dosage as the toxicity of mushrooms can vary widely.

History and Folklore: Fly agaric has played a role in folklore and shamanism in various cultures. Some cultures believed that consuming the mushroom could lead to spiritual experiences. However, it is important to emphasize that fly agaric should not be used as a psychoactive substance due to its toxicity.

Where does our fly agaric powder come from?

The fly agaric powder we offer comes from Siberia. There the mushrooms are collected, dried and transformed into powder. We guarantee excellent quality.

This product cannot be used as food nor is it intended to be ingested!

Legislation

In Italy neither ibotenic acid, nor muscimol and muscazone nor the entire mushroom or parts of it are included in the Tables containing narcotic or psychotropic substances subject to supervision and control referred to in Article 14 of the Presidential Decree 309/90 and subsequent amendments. In many European countries (Sweden, Norway, Holland, Finland, Denmark, England) Amanita muscaria can be legally bought, sold and possessed. 8Amanita muscaria The mushroom is not under control in Canada. In the United States, particularly in the state of Louisiana, the use of the Amanita muscaria is not legal in humans, while the law allows its possession and cultivation for strictly aesthetic, landscape and decorative purposes.

Pharmaco-toxicological properties

Amanita muscaria is used for luxury purposes due to its hallucinogenic properties. The mushroom is usually eaten fresh or after partial drying. From 30 minutes to 1 hour after ingesting the drug, a state of excitement similar to that induced by excessive doses of alcohol appears, followed by drowsiness, muscle contractions, bradycardia, delirium and loss of consciousness. The hallucinations produced by the mushroom are both auditory and visual (5). Responsible for the psychotropic effects of Amanita muscaria are ibotenic acid and muscimol, the latter derived from the decarboxylation of ibotenic acid which occurs following drying of the mushroom (6). Both compounds exert neurotoxic effects after crossing the blood-brain barrier, probably through the aid of a transporter (7-8). In particular, it has been observed that ibotenic acid, structurally related to glutamic acid, causes excitation, while muscimol, being more similar to GABA, exerts a depressive effect (9). The hallucinogenic effect of muscimol is approximately 5 times greater than that of ibotenic acid. Approximately one third of muscimol is excreted unchanged in the urine. This could explain why in some shamanic rites it is customary to drink the urine of those who have consumed the mushroom in order to propitiate divinatory visions (2-4,9). The effects of muscazone are similar to those exerted by ibotenic acid and muscimol, compared to which this compound is however less active (10). Muscarine exerts a powerful cholinergic effect but is not responsible for psychotropic effects. In any case, the content of this compound in the mushroom is very low and cannot be held responsible for the symptoms associated with intoxication (10).

Toxicity

In rats, the intraperitoneal administration of an aqueous extract of Amanita muscaria induces alterations in some blood-chemical parameters. In particular, reduced activity of acetylcholinesterase is observed, reduction in hepatic glycogen levels with consequent increase in blood sugar and reduction in blood urea nitrogen. However, the activity of serum transaminases is not modified and vital organs such as the liver and kidneys are not compromised. Within six hours the values modified by the ingestion of the mushroom tend to normalize (11). In mice and rats, intraperitoneal administration of ibotenic acid and muscimol produces an increase in brain levels of serotonin and dopamine as a consequence of a reduced turnover of these neurotransmitters (12-13). This increase appears to be responsible for some of the central effects induced by the mushroom (e.g. the anorectic effect and mydriasis). In humans it is believed that the toxic dose of muscimol corresponds to 6 mg, while that of ibotenic acid is 30-60 mg.

For thousands of years, people have experienced the effects of herbs for their development. This is also the case with the Amanita Muscaria species, which has long aroused particular interest among people interested in the spirit. Moreover, it was not only used as a trap for flies pickled with milk and sugar (muscaria = fly). It has been used since the 18th century due to its ingredient muscimol, particularly by the shamanic peoples of Siberia. This active ingredient is created during drying by the contained ibotenic acid.

As the best-known poisonous mushroom, the toxic effects of fly agaric are often overestimated. Although it is unquestionably poisonous in its fresh form due to the ibotenic acid contained in it, it is not classified as fatally poisonous. Some even use it as an edible mushroom because the poisons are mainly found in the skin of the cap and are mostly soluble in water. Therefore, the red skin is removed and the fungus is subjected to a water bath lasting several hours.

However, in the interest of responsible use, we expressly advise against the oral consumption of fly agaric. Instead, we offer it exclusively as incense to experience its subtle nature without falling into a state of inebriation.

Judging by its appearance, the fly agaric has a surprising character, rather dominant and extroverted. Through experiences in shamanic cultures, it is said to give courage and willpower and vanish fears and inhibitions. Wherever self-confidence is strengthened, old feelings of shame would disappear. Although it has a mild effect on users, it can bring out a wild and chaotic side. It is also said to produce a slight feeling of euphoria as well as a calm and clear mind. If you believe the legends of indigenous peoples, Amanita Muscaria can help people authentically experience their deepest and truest being.

It acts like a benevolent teacher, especially at the linguistic level, which is why it is sometimes called the guru mushroom. By formulating your thoughts, it can help create mental clarity. The fly agaric surrounds the complexity of reality, simplifies it into the aspects that are truly relevant at the moment and thus creates a clear direction. He wants to pursue this goal with loving wildness, self-determination and tenacity.

If you want to smoke fly agaric, you can turn it into a small ceremony
