TURMERIC: its main quality is its powerful antibacterial action, in fact, it is an ideal disinfectant, purifying and antiseptic agent. In phytotherapy it is widely used in cases of liver disorders. It has hepatoprotective properties, in fact it stimulates bile secretion and fat digestion. The quantitatively most significant active ingredient of turmeric is curcumin, which is attributed with an anti-inflammatory action on the liver and large intestine. The antioxidant activity of turmeric has been attributed to the action it exerts on the enzyme glutathione S-transferase (family of detoxifying isoenzymes that catalyze the conjugation of various toxic molecules with glutathione, making them less reactive and more easily eliminated from the body), increasing their antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity.
CHRYSANTELLO: the extract of this plant is used to combat liver insufficiency, carrying out a hepatoprotective action (in liver disease or pre-cirrhotic states) and a moderate but prolonged choleretic action. It is recognized as having vasoprotective activity (it decreases capillary permeability) and anti-inflammatory activity, playing an important role in microcirculation disorders.
MILK THISTLE: hepatoprotective properties, attributable to the activity of a complex of flavolignans extracted from the fruits of the plant and constituting Silymarin (70-80% silybin, silidianin, silicristin and isosilybin). Silymarin would therefore improve the functionality of hepatocytes by stabilizing the cellular and lysosomal membrane and thus hindering the entry of hepatotoxic substances.
Cellular regeneration would be due to the increased synthesis of ribosomal RNA which causes an increase in protein synthesis, essential to accelerate cellular regeneration. Silibinin (isomer of Silymarin) would prevent the entry of certain poisonous toxins (contained in mushrooms) into the liver cells, thanks to a competitive inhibitory action towards the receptors of the hepatocyte membranes.
