The cannabis butter, or cannabutter, is the basis of most cannabis recipes. Preparing it correctly is essential for tasty edibles with amazing effects. We quickly illustrate the ingredients and the necessary procedure.

Cannabis butter: simple and amazing recipe
There are several ways to make cannabis butter. What we would propose to you today is just one recipe among many, which we have tested and delighted us.
First of all, especially if you are a beginner and don't have much confidence with the stove, to avoid sunburn, we recommend wearing long-sleeved clothing and heat-resistant gloves.
Having made the right recommendations, we specify that the majority of consumers believe that preparing cannabis butter starts from tops it would be a waste, as it is better to smoke them. Or even more vaporize them.
Alternatively, you can use cut gems and waste of your crops, so as to obtain quality butter but without drawing from your personal supply.
Cannabutter: ingredients and preparation
We list all of them below ingredients and the equipment needed to prepare our cannabis butter:
- marijuana or crop waste
- butter
- water
- pot
- stove
- sieves
- storage containers, including plastic
Time needed: from 4 to 24 hours, due to long cooking.
Without further ado, let's get to the heart of the action: the preparation of our cannabutter. Here are all the steps.
Step 1: We grind and decarboxylate the cannabis
We grind the ganja as finely as possible. A particularly small size will improve the extraction of the active ingredients when melting the butter. Dimension also considered of fundamental importance by the scientists who found the project of perfect rod.

For branches and clippings, we can easily use a blender kitchen, so as to grind quickly in a matter of minutes.
Once this is done, you have to decarboxylate cannabis. This heat-driven chemical reaction converts the cannabinoid acids THCA, CBDA into their corresponding cannabinoids THC and CBD, making them bioavailable.
Simply spread our crumbled cannabis on a baking tray lined with baking paper. We cook for 30-40 minutes at 110°C and that's it.
Step 2: Melt the butter
While the cannabis is cooking in the oven we begin to melt the butter. Depending on the quantities we choose one pot small, medium or large. The important thing is not to fill the pan completely, because otherwise, given the boiling oils and fats, you could run into the risks mentioned at the beginning.
Let's melt the butter over a low heat and don't forget to check it frequently, especially if we use gas stoves and therefore cook with an open flame.
Step 3: Add the cannabis and cook (very) slowly
Once the butter has melted, we add the readily decarboxylated cannabis to the mixture obtained. Let's cook a slow fire and let's mix everything together. The longer the cooking times, the stronger our butter will be. Times that vary greatly from our availability.
Usually 3-4 hours would be enough, but there are those who go up to 8 or even 24 hours of cooking. The important thing is to cook at very low temperatures.
By not placing the lid on the pan we allow the water vapor to escape freely. This is what it will do the water listed above.
A decisive step that should not be underestimated because butter, the carrier material for cannabinoids, must be protected from excessive heat and evaporation. It is in fact necessary to check whether the quantity of water is sufficient for submerge all the raw material.
To verify that the temperature is ideal, you need to carefully observe the surface of the mixture. Surface that will have to be covered by a sort of foam and small bubbles of a maximum of a few millimetres. Bubbles that differ from bubbles caused by cooking at high temperatures.
Phase 4: we filter the mixture, fill the container and off to the fridge to cool
Once ready, let's filter the mixture into a container and separate the mixture obtained from the plant material. Equipped with special gloves to avoid any burns and a second sieve, we can also squeeze the marijuana, so as to recover all the remaining oil. Trust me, there will be plenty more.
We leave the container in the refrigerator for several hours to cool. Now condensed, our cannabis butter it's ready. Paying attention when it's time to remove it from the container, we are ready to cook our cannabis delights.
Extra tip: especially if you're a beginner, don't overdo it with quantities. If the color of the butter is particularly bright, a symptom of its power, when preparing the recipe you can also mix it with normal butter, so as to reduce the doses. Experiment, but with caution.
