Therapeutic cannabis: the pathologies for which it is prescribed
As defined by Lorenzin decree of 9 November 2015, cannabis for therapeutic use is prescribed when:
1. conventional drugs have proven themselves insufficient to treat the disease

And the pathologies for which it is mainly prescribed are the following:
- multiple sclerosis and diseases related to spinal cord injury, as a natural analgesic

- nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy and HIV therapy, due to the antiemetic effects of cannabis
- lack of appetite in cases of cachexia, anorexia or in cancer patients or those suffering from AIDS or HIV. Appetite that cannabis can stimulate naturally
- glaucoma as hypotensive and for the Tourette syndrome to limit involuntary body movements
However, except in specific cases, medical cannabis can be prescribed for any pathology by any doctor, who, after careful analysis, deems it appropriate.

Finally, cannabinoid-based therapy can only be purchased in pharmacies specialized in the preparation of galenic drugs and in some cases in hospitals or at Local Health Units (AUSL), and costs could be charged to the National Health Service (SNN), but the refundability varies from region to region.
