I promised and he kept his word. Daniele Nahum, the PD municipal councilor of the city of Milan, he lit a joint in front of Palazzo Marino to ask for the legalization of cannabis.

“To protest against this madness I will light a joint in front of Palazzo Marino and I will not commit a crime, because personal use is not a crime.”
This is how the PD councilor announced his gesture “civil obedience”, after the municipality of Milan had approved with a large majority an agenda that commits Mayor Sala and the council to "activate with Parliament for the approval of a bill that legalize the production and consumption of cannabis”.
The opposition had come from the League, with the councilor Deborah Giovanati who had proposed the withdrawal of the agenda and that a hair test to check for drug use. It was Daniele Nahum himself who responded, promising that if the proposal passed in the chamber he would "smoke a joint in front of the Municipality and give her a lock". And so it was.
Daniele Nahum lit a joint in front of the Municipality of Milan: the reasons
“This act of civil obedience comes about because I am against prohibitionism who fills prisons and helps the mafias. Prisons explode. I am 16 thousand people detained for crimes related to cannabis" explained the PD councilor.
“Organized crime makes money 7 billion euros every year by selling this substance, the courts are swamped with trials of small drug dealers or simple consumers, and we spend around 800 million euros a year on investigations. For all this madness I made this gesture, also to underline that Prohibition is a crime.”
“In Milan the Democratic Party group unanimously voted for Barberis's agenda, even the part most closely linked to the Catholic world” - and continues - “At a national level the PD is supporting the law for self-production, but we need a change of pace and we must be very compact. In my opinion it is a priority"
Councilor Nahum took the opportunity to ask the PD and its secretary Enrico Letta for greater courage on the issue of legalization: "I hope that our secretary has more courage and take sides clearly."
Salvini's attack and Nahum's response
Criticism from the secretary of the League certainly could not be missing Matteo Salvini, who sarcastically wrote on social media: “The PD's priorities. City councilor of Milan...", spreading the poster of the appointment outside Palazzo Marino.

Nahum responded by underlining that "many centre-right voters were in favor of this initiative" and how legalization is "a battle for everyone, it's not just about the left or those who smoke pot."
And he concludes, “If I may make a joke, the worst republican government has fallen under the rivers of alcohol, but it has never happened that a government fell for a joint. Speaking seriously, however, it must be said that in Italy they die from alcohol 48 people every day, yet it is legal and no one would have said anything if I had drank a glass of wine in front of the municipality.”
Contrary to the cannabis we remember, despite the avalanche of unfounded news born out of ignorance on the topic and fervent prohibitionism, you have not never claimed a victim.
