Forbid trade and production light cannabis. This is the objective of the amendment to the security bill presented by the Meloni government.

In particular, the proposal aims to equate inflorescences with a low THC content, so-called "light", to those of "normal" cannabis, present instead in list of narcotic substances of the Consolidated Law on Narcotic Substances.

A move defined by the secretary of +Europa Riccardo Magi as "an unmotivated repressive and punitive push", which could have disastrous consequences for all operators in the sector.

The proposal, now under consideration of the Constitutional Affairs and Justice commissions of the Chamber, wants to intervene on law n.242 of 2016 which promotes the supply chain and cultivation of hemp.

“It is prohibited the importation, transfer, processing, distribution, trade, transport, dispatch, shipping and delivery of hemp inflorescences cultivated, even in semi-finished, dried or shredded form, we read in the amendment.

But also "of products containing such inflorescences, including extracts, resins and oils derived from them".

And to those who violate the provisions, "the rules apply sanctions provided for" by the Consolidated Law on Narcotic Substances.

The discussion of the amendments will start next Tuesday. And the measure, expected in the Chamber next week, should already be voted on June 9th.

"It's dramatic, with this amendment the government wants to definitively cut off the legs of thousands of operators in the light cannabis sector, the one with low THC content", he reiterated toAnsa Riccardo Magi.

But it's not the first time that the Meloni government is trying to put a spanner in the works of the green hemp sector in Italy, indeed.

The last time was a few months ago. But he thought about stopping her TAR of Lazio, that without thinking about it suspended the decree banning the trade of CBD oil.
