Industrial hemp in Germany: a mine of opportunities

In German law, the abuse clause was a legal mechanism that allowed authorities to limit or ban the cultivation of hemp, even for industrial purposes, if there was a suspicion that it was being used for recreational and illegal purposes.

Because of this clause, there have been different farmers over the years unfairly targeted, even if they operated within the rules. But with its elimination, Germany's green industry is poised to flourish.

“Industrial hemp delivers many opportunities for our agriculture: contains very little THC, is not demanding, requires few pesticides, fertilizers and water, improves the soil and provides a habitat for insects,” said the Minister of Food and Agriculture Cem Özdemir.

And as explained by the minister, "With the legal possibilities of access to recreational cannabis offered by law on cannabis for consumption, the abuse of industrial hemp for recreational purposes is practically excluded".

Italy is going backwards while the rest of the world is moving forward

With the amendment contained in the security bill, which seeks to criminalize hemp by comparing it to a narcotic, the Meloni government could raze to the ground the entire Italian green sector, creating damage bordering on the unimaginable.

In fact, the hemp industry matters in Italy today 3 thousand companies with over 15 thousand workers, who for purely ideological reasons would see their efforts, time and investments vanish in an instant.

Fortunately, however, the last word has not yet been said. And the sector associations, together with all the national agricultural associations, are already there activate to stop this madness.
