What is cannabis?
Often, the terms cannabis, hashish and light cannabis are used incorrectly. Many people think that they are the same thing, when in reality this is not the case at all. The aim of this post is to clarify, explaining all the differences between hashish and marijuana, especially with regards to effects and benefits. Let's start, however, from the definition of cannabis.
So what is cannabis?
Cannabis is a plant, characterized by three subspecies
Sativa
Indicates
Ruderalis
In terms of height, this plant can reach 3 meters. Furthermore, it is characterized by toothed leaves. What to say about its use? Cannabis has historically been used in the pharmacological, textile and psychotropic fields.
Furthermore, through cannabis it is possible to produce a resin that can contain up to 20 flavonoids, 60 cannabinoids and 100 terpenoids.
Marijuana and hashish compared
When cannabis begins to flower, energy is primarily focused on developing the buds. First, you will need to collect them. Afterwards, they will need to be tanned. In terms of duration, the entire procedure ranges from 2 to 3 months, depending on the type of cannabis and the grower.
The inflorescences, once dried, are marketed in the form of marijuana, in our case legal marijuana, which will be consumed like a joint. Regarding the intensity of the effects of marijuana, smokers particularly appreciate the apical buds, as they are particularly developed, as well as the central components.
If in fact marijuana refers to the mature flowers that are collected from the cannabis plant, hashish, however, refers to the trichomes, the extraction of which directly involves the flowers.
The resin, which accumulates throughout the entire development process, is separated from the buds manually or alternatively using sophisticated chemical or mechanical procedures.
If the bud of grass can be classified as vegetal matter, hashish is characterized by different aspects. Based on the extraction procedure used, there are different types of hashish. They range from the first in a semi-solid state to the second, more pasty. In addition to the different levels of hardness, it is also necessary to take into account the various shades, from black to brown, without forgetting yellow and red.
Cutting-edge techniques in the field of marijuana production have only helped to give hash oils greater luster. Today more than ever, the latter are ultra-popular. Specifically, these are extremely potent concentrates that can be vaporized or consumed using bongs. In principle, it is possible to assert that oils, as well as concentrates, are tested, on the one hand to monitor the level of potency achieved, but at the same time also to evaluate the level of purity achieved, through the various extraction techniques.
What is THC?
THC refers to the main psychoactive substance present in cannabis. When you smoke it, ingest it or vaporize it, there is an interaction with the various receptors present in the brain and body. Result? There are several effects. Numerous studies over the years have demonstrated on several occasions that prolonged use of THC causes damage to health. It must be said, however, that in terms of toxicity, the level is quite low. This means that to be harmful, this substance must be consumed in rather high doses.
There are also positive effects that arise from taking THC. Among these, it is worth mentioning:
Glaucoma treatment
Reduction of symptoms due to multiple sclerosis
Treatment of loss of appetite resulting from massive doses of drugs taken during chemotherapy cycles.
Potency of THC
Given that hashish is the resin extracted from flowers containing the greatest quantity of cannabinoids, it follows that the THC content will always be higher than that present in the buds. Smokers immediately notice the differences between smoking hashish and marijuana, given that in the first case the mind tends to be more clear. The flavors, however, in the case of marijuana prove to be more floral and less earthy.
Going into detail, when marijuana is smoked, THC concentrations are around 15% / 21%. When smoking hashish, the potency of THC rises dramatically, reaching values between 20% and 60% on average. However, there are various extraction processes that allow reaching peaks of 99%. This, however, does not mean that smoking only the buds entails lesser psychoactive effects. Far from it. In terms of THC concentration, hashish definitely surpasses marijuana, given that the process of extracting the trichomes is carried out right from the buds.
What is CBD?
This is the second most widespread cannobinoid. Cannabis containing a high amount of CBD provides therapeutic benefits, without the feelings of euphoria or lethargy caused by TCH. In legal hemp, CBD is present which is excellent for efficiently treating numerous medical symptoms, including:
Muscle spasms
Inflammations
Chronic pain
States of anxiety
There are several studies that highlight how this cannobinoid does an excellent job when it comes to combating various tumors, such as the spread of breast metastases.
Legal weed, marijuana and hashish compared: what are the differences?
Cannabis refers to the plant as a whole. Namely roots, stem, flowers and leaves. No distinction is even made between contents and purposes.
Marijuana refers to the flowers of the plant that contain a high amount of active ingredients. These are first dried and only then smoked for medical or recreational purposes.
Hashish: is a product of cannabis pollen and resins, containing a high quantity of both CBD and THC.
Sativa hashish and indica hashish compared
The effects of hashish produced by a pure sativa plant are always confirmed to be lighter than those produced by an indica plant. In fact, what is most affected in the case of sativa is the brain. The high, therefore, is more creative and full of inspiration. Instead, indica hashish is characterized by an effect that tends to numb both the body and the mind.
