With particularly powerful effects, the THCPO it is a semi-synthetic cannabinoid, first synthesized in 2021. But how safe is it for consumers? Let's quickly understand what it is, the effects and possible contraindications.

What is THCPO?
A semi-synthetic cannabinoid, which is obtained exclusively in the laboratory. As? Starting from THCP: a cannabinoid discovered in 2020, to which it is added an acetate group "O" via acylation.
This chemical reaction, which changes its structure, gives it greater thermal and oxidative stability. And (maybe) not amplify psychoactive effects further.
The "super" psychoactive effects of THCPO
It's one study published on Scientific Reports to have highlighted the psychoactive effects of THCP, which has demonstrated an affinity with the CB1 receptor up to 33 times higher than THC.
Likewise, THCPO binds to CB1 receptors in the brain, inducing effects strong psychoactive effects. Probably even more important, thanks to the presence of the acetate group "O".
In particular:
- euphoria
- physical and mental relaxation
- drowsiness
- space-time alteration
Is THCPO safe? Possible side effects
At least for now, in lack of studies who have analyzed its short and long-term effects, it is impossible to comment on the safety of this cannabinoid.
However, based on the knowledge of other psychoactive cannabinoids, it can be hypothesized that THCPO may exhibit the following side effects. Which ones:
- anxiety, often due to excessive use
- dry mouth
- red eyes
- the so-called "munchies", i.e. sudden hunger attacks
