Malta's first cannabis club is officially operational. To confirm it with a official press release is the Authority for the Responsible Use of Cannabis (ARUC).

The KDD Society, after successfully passing all mandatory tests to ensure product quality, "began distributing cannabis to adult members."

Le analysis included: “Phytocannabinoid profile, microorganism analysis, bacteria, yeast and mold counts, mycotoxins, trace and heavy metal analysis, water activity and moisture content, as well as the presence of dirt and foreign substances.”

The Authority said it was "satisfied" with the goal achieved. In fact, less than a year after the release of the definitive regulation, the association "began to operate in a highly regulated manner based on an approach that aims to public health and harm reduction".

Cannabis club in Malta: more than 150 members in two days

Kenneth Ellul, President of the KDD Society of Attard, enthusiastically declared that over 150 members have registered in just two days. “The turnout was phenomenal – I never thought it would be possible to provide this type of service in Malta.”

The association, which can welcome up to 250 members, offers only 5 varieties of cannabis, whose percentages range from 11 to 17% THC. And among the members so far there are more men than women, from 18 to 76 years old.

“The members who came were happy to be able to purchase cannabis legal and regulated,” Ellul finally declared.

Before concluding, let's remember the rules most important of the Maltese cannabis clubs. Including:

  • the obligation to live on the island to register, in fact the associations, at least for now, are not open to tourists
  • the club must have two founding members, not necessarily Maltese but at least residents in Malta for at least 5 years
  • the license costs 1,000 euros and is valid for one year, to be subsequently renewed
  • each organization is responsible forentire production of cannabis and, in addition to the inflorescences, will be able to serve purely non-alcoholic drinks to consumers, often affected by dry mouth
  • i test to determine the quality of the products are carried out "periodically", but those to detect mold and bacteria are carried out "before the release of each batch".
