CBD reduces stress in dogs

Most of our four-legged friends suffer when forced to travel by car or, for example, are left alone. But the CBD, as in humans, can relieve canine stress.

The study conducted by researchers at Waltham Petcare Science Institute in the UK, from results published on Frontiers in Veterinary Science, aimed to understand the impact of CBD on these two aforementioned activities. Establishing that a single oral dose of CBD, free of THC, can significantly reduce stress in dogs.

The research, controlled with a placebo group, first left a population of 21 dogs alone in a family room and then subjected another of 19 dogs to a short car ride.

To arrive at these results, scholars have collected a series of at different times physiological and behavioral parameters stress-related (serum cortisol, mean ear temperature, heart rate, whining) and, two hours before being exposed to separation or car travel, each dog received either a placebo or CBD capsule.

The researchers, in addition to suggesting that a period of separation or a car trip are stressful events for dogs, have found that several parameters of dog stress are improved after CBD administration.

Specifically, dogs treated with CBD (4mg/kg) were rated as significantly less “sad”, had levels of cortisol definitely shorter, they cried less and were more relax compared to dogs that received a placebo. All factors that could positively impact canine emotional well-being.

CBD for animals

Like us humans, animals have a endocannabinoid system, composed of endogenous cannabinoids, similar to the phytocannabinoids of cannabis, CB1 and CB2 receptors and enzymes.

CBD, by binding to the CB1 and CB2 receptors, supports and promotes them correct functioning, promoting a higher quality of life and giving a daily feeling of well-being to our feline.

Easy to administer, either orally using a practical bite-proof dropper dispenser, preferably on a full stomach to facilitate absorption, or in the baby food favorite of our furry friends, theCBD oil it is the best cannabinoid product for animals.

Among the major benefits of CBD for veterinary use let's remember:

  • the treatment of arthritis, arthrosis and rheumatism and the reduction of chronic and neurogenic pain
  • soothes theanxiety and stress of the animal
  • improves the quality of sleep and calms insomnia
  • kept in good condition the hair and skin of felines
  • combined with chemotherapy, stimulates appetite and reduces pain
  • to treat theepilepsy in dogs
  • for i age-related disorders
  • optimize the effectiveness of veterinary care
