On Monday 27 June, in the Chamber at Palazzo Marino, Daniele Nahum (city councilor of the Democratic Party) announced the States General on cannabis. Two days of debates, conferences and testimonies in support of legalization of marijuana in Italy.

The initiative, promoted by councilor Nahum and made possible thanks to Justmary support (the first cannabis delivery in Italy), will be held on 8 and 9 July in Via Senato 14 in Milan.
"A few months ago - begins Daniele Nahum - I lit a joint in front of Palazzo Marino to contest the crazy policies in matters of drugs that exist in our country and to support the law which would allow the home cultivation of cannabis up to four seedlings. On that occasion I said that the States General of Cannabis needed to be created, today I am here to announce them."
"The event - continues the PD Councilor - is promoted by me and made possible thanks to JustMary which, in addition to dispensing light cannabis throughout the peninsula it is also present in Paris, and at Energie Sociali Jesurum which is organizing the event."
I highlights of the debates will be: the relationship between cannabis and the mafia, the overcrowding of prisons, the therapeutic aspect, the economic consequences. There will be no shortage of authority: from important exponents of the political world to the Directors of the Opera, San Vittore and Bollate prisons, to the Director of the Department of Sociology of the University of Oxford, passing through the National Deputy Secretary of the Democratic Party.
General States of cannabis: why we need to legalize it

Two days in support of legalization to denounce the failure of prohibition and the devastating effects of drug policies. "There are 16 thousand prisoners in our prisons for crimes related to cannabis - underlines Nahum - the mafias make money 7 billion every year thanks to prohibition. We want to take this gain away from him and allow a legal economic sector which would be good for the country, would create new entrepreneurs and would be an excellent opportunity for our agriculture."
And he continues, "30% of the inmates in our prisons are in prison for drug use. In this event we will highlight the madness of prohibition and we will think about how in the future we will have to legalize this substance and the benefits we could derive from it.
“We are thrilled to participate and support an initiative that aims to talk seriously about Cannabis - he begins Matteo Moretti, co-founder and CEO of Justmary - We believe that spreading and supporting culture is a fundamental part of social and moral obligations of every company. It is necessary to remember that the tax revenue in Italy in the event of legalization is particularly high: the estimate, created by Professor Ofria of the University of Messina, indicates the figure of well 6 billion euros. Our reality - he continues - for cannabis delivery is leader in Italy: we are present in 9 Italian cities and in the French capital, we aim to strengthen our presence here and expand in Europe.”
