The Cabinet of Ministers in Ukraine, to reduce the damage of war on mental health, supported a bill that regulates the use of cannabis for medical purposes.
Fromannouncement, arrived on June 7th from the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko, we can read: "The reform regulates the circulation of cannabis plants for medical, industrial purposes, scientific and technical-scientific activities, so as to guarantee patients the care necessary for cancer and post-traumatic disorder resulting from the war."
The legalization of cannabis is a priority, and in a country where the mental stability of those who populate it is put to the test with every passing second, it has become a need that can no longer be postponed.
“We understand the negative effects of war on mental health. We understand the number of people who will need medical care due to this exposure. And we understand that there's no time to lose. Therefore, we have already prepared a law to ensure the entire cycle of production of cannabis-based medicines in Ukraine: from cultivation and processing to production for all intents and purposes."
According to some data, even before the war there were approximately 2 million Ukrainian citizens who would benefit from medical cannabis. This number has grown dramatically due to the numerous traumas that the Ukrainian population is forced to experience.
"We understand the sensitivity of this issue in society and are ready to gradually develop this sector and offer assistance and treatment to Ukrainian patients. Without importing, but creating our own, Ukrainian!"
He concludes, "Historically, cannabis-based medications have been used to reduce pain, muscle spasms and cramps, treat anorexia, post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety disorders. In addition, they are used in the treatment of some types of epilepsy, glaucoma, psoriasis, parkinsonism, multiple sclerosis. An important task of these drugs is to relieve pain and suffering in critically ill and palliative patients, including cancer patients and HIV patients."
